Hey guys what is up, back again with me Duke Crescent! Sorry for my long hiatus, dikarenakan oleh tugas kuliah yang menumpuk, I need to stop contributing for a while. But, I'm back guys! But before we begin, saya pribadi ingin mengucapkan mohon maaf lahir batin kepada semua readers, admins and YGO! family across the world. Mulai dari 8000 Life Points yah :P
So, let's get started on the segment today, Emperian's What's Happening!
Today we will talk about the recent tredning topic on YGO! duelist worldwide: #OccupyYGO
#OccupyYGO adalah satu gerakan dari Joseph Giorlando, one of the top player dari ARG. Gerakan? Gerakan untuk apa? What is the real purpose of #OccupyYGO? Let's take a look at his explanation and all the things regarding #OccupyYGO right here.
Jadi, #OccupyYGO ini adalah satu bentuk demand kepada Konami untuk meningkatkan kualitas game secara menyeluruh. Apa saja hal-hal yang bisa ditingkatkan? Well, based on the link above, these are some of the things that can be upgraded:
1. Better Coverage
Event coverage yang lebih baik artinya Konami bisa memberikan informasi yang sangat lengkap regarding certain events. Saat YGO! dihandle oleh UDE, coverage yang diberikan pada setiap event sangat lengkap. Contoh event coverage jaman dulu yang terdapat disitus metagame bisa dilihat disini. Event coverage di metagame consist of feature matches, top cut decklists dan useful article.
2. Live Streams
Live streams currently applied only on Worlds Championship (will be held tonight, on 23.00 WIB, bisa di streaming secara online di website YGO! official). Jika event seperti YCS atau WCQ memiliki fitur live streams, players around the world can experience the matches directly, making it way more interesting!
3. Better Prize Support
Prize pool YGO! dianggap lebih kecil daripada TCG lainnya, mainly Magic: The Gathering. MTG mempunya prize support yang sangat besar valuenya, making the game even more competitive. Recently revealed YCS prize, Number 106: Giant Hand juga banyak membuat orang feel disappointed. Better prize support here means cash money, ipads, etc.
Then, action apakah yang akan dilakukan dalam #OccupyYGO? Boycott the YCS Toronto which will be held approximately one month from now. The complete information can be received dari situs Joe G. diatas.

What's up guys this is Duke Crescent back again! Since I can't sleep di pagi buta kelam dan kelaparan, saya ingin mengangkat satu topic yang sedang happening di kalangan duelist luar negeri. Lately, ada satu isu, satu dilema yang ditimbulkan oleh satu kartu yang sangat familiar bagi semua duelist di dunia ini. Old school card, always a staple, but now, keberadaan dan fungsinya pun diragukan. And that card is..

Dark Hole, one of this format's holy trinity(along with Monster Reborn and Heavy Storm). Kartu ini selalu ada disetiap deck(with the exception of some decks like Six Samurai,etc) karena kartu ini berstatus staple. Staple itself, for those who doesn't know, means that the card is important and needs to be run in your deck. Nah, seperti yang kita semua tau, dari effectnya:
No cost. Spell card. Possible +1 and more? Dark Hole is definitely a great card hands down! Topdecking kartu ini late game? Nikmat tak tertahankan~. A card that can change the game state and definitely needed for this fast format. Tetapi, kartu ini sekarang diragukan dan menyebabkan dilemma untuk semua duelist di dunia. Why? Here's why.
The fact is, duelist-duelist OCG sudah banyak yang melepas Dark Hole dari main deck mereka(either it goes to side deck, or trunk lol). Bukti bisa dilihat di decklist yang dipublish di shriek.twoday.net. They don't run a Dark freaking Hole! Does it make sense? Well of course mereka punya alasan. Sebenarnya hal ini tidak terlalu dipikirkan oleh duelist-duelist di region US dan TCG lainnya. Tetapi, saat sebuah artikel dari ygoverdose.com, suatu situs Yu-Gi-Oh! milik Kristopher Perovic mengguncang perspektif para duelist tentang Dark Hole. Dibawah ini merupakan beberapa poin penting dari artikel tersebut yang akan saya bahas:
1. Dark Hole must be held and conserved for too long and it opens up opportunities for an opponent to draw and utilize their Starlight Roads or Forbidden Lances.
This is absolutely true. Since you try to always get more plusses of it agar Dark Hole tidak hanya menjadi one for one trade. Dark Hole termasuk dalam golongan power cards di Yu-Gi-Oh!. You really want to activate your power cards at the right time, not just activating it for when you have the chance. Poin ini menunjukkan bahwa cards like Starlight Road and Forbidden Lance do exist dan waktu yang kamu habiskan untuk menyimpan Dark Hole di hand digunakan oleh musuh untuk prepare satu action untuk mengantisipasi Dark Hole kamu.
2. The metagame is evolving into one of the fastest, most explosive formats in all of the game’s history. Dark Hole will have even more counters waiting to derail its longstanding utility as a generic power card.
Format yang akan datang adalah format yang sangat cepat, dimana deck-deck dalam metagame mempunyai speed yang sangat cepat dan itu artinya, the game will end quickly and you don't always have the time to activate Dark Hole (getting OTK'd sebelum sempet Dark Hole). You NEED to wait for you opponent's plays dan baru kamu bisa respon dengan Dark Hole, tetapi, asumsi kamu ga punya Gorz/Trag/Fader/Swift Scarecrow atau the brand new Trifortressops(I like this card lol), upcoming meta deck can deliver 8000++ damage on board, CONSISTENTLY. Kalaupun gabisa damage 8000 in that turn, they can still anticipate and play around Dark Hole, which brings us to the next point.
3. All of these deck strategies will be in full force next month and each deck boasts more than enough counters for your beloved Dark Hole.
Which deck? A LOT of upcoming deck has a card to anticipate Dark Hole. Prophecy got Wisdom, Evilswarm got Infestation Pandemic, Constellar got Omega, and other decks stated on the article. That's why Dark Hole is not worth it according to the article.

Those are the points dari artikel ygooverdose.com yang ingin saya angkat. Isu ini menyebabkan adanya perspektif berbeda pada duelist, yaitu pro dan contra. Some say "I agree with this, Dark Hole is bad now, I'll stop running it.", and some say "If you cut Dark Hole from your main deck, why don't you cut the Monster Reborn and Heavy Storm also?". Memang dilemma ini tidak dirasakan oleh majority duelist di Indonesia(atau belum merasakan, we'll see), tetapi tujuan dari post ini adalah untuk menginformasikan tentang apakah yang sedang happening di kalangan duelist abroad. Apakah kamu akan merasakan apa yang mereka rasakan? I personally will keep Dark Hole in my main deck because great card is great. Kalau musuhmu play around Dark Hole, why don't you play around cards that anticipate Dark Hole? Dark Hole ftw!
